A$AP Rocky says his first encounter with Rihanna happened long before he became a household name—and it wasn’t exactly smooth. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 19, the rapper shared that they met outside a New York nightclub when he was still unknown and couldn’t even get past the bouncers. Rihanna, already a global star at the time, walked out as Rocky was arguing with security, locking eyes with him in what he now describes as an unforgettable but embarrassing moment.
Rocky laughed as he admitted she didn’t help him get inside, but the brief encounter clearly left an impression. The two went on to collaborate professionally years later, working together on music and tours before eventually turning their longtime friendship into a romantic relationship around 2020.
Now one of music’s most high-profile couples, Rocky and Rihanna recently welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki, in September 2025. Reflecting on fatherhood, Rocky told Fallon that becoming a parent again has been life-changing, saying it’s made him feel like “a new man” all over again.
