Analysts Say Some MAGA Media Responses to Minneapolis Shooting Were ‘Bloodthirsty’

Conservative media figures faced criticism after controversial reactions to the killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti, with some commentators offering sympathetic or provocative takes on the incident.

The killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis has sparked intense debate—not only over federal immigration enforcement, but also over how parts of conservative media have responded.

Political analysts Sam Stein and Will Sommer said they were stunned by what they described as “bloodthirsty” reactions from some MAGA-aligned commentators. Speaking on Bulwark Takes, they pointed to media figures who expressed little sympathy for Pretti or suggested the shooting was justified based on his behavior during the confrontation.

According to the analysts, some commentary appeared to redefine constitutional protections, implying that shouting at officers could warrant lethal force. Stein warned that such rhetoric reflects a troubling erosion of empathy and restraint during a moment of national tension.

The media response comes as the Trump administration reshuffles immigration leadership in Minneapolis following widespread criticism of federal agents’ actions. While some voices are calling for de-escalation, others are pushing for tougher measures, deepening the country’s already sharp divisions.

As investigations continue, critics argue that how influential media figures frame the incident may further inflame tensions rather than help restore public trust.
