Actor and writer Christian Keyes is publicly calling out Tyler Perry and Tyler Perry Studios, accusing them of “shady” business practices tied to the hit BET+ series All the Queen’s Men — a show Keyes created years before it made it to streaming.
Keyes — best known for his longtime involvement in Tyler Perry productions — opened up during a recent Instagram Live, saying he is no longer interested in working with BET or Perry’s studio after a series of disputes over writing credit and creative control.
Claims his “created by” credit was removed
Keyes previously revealed that his “created by” credit was removed during Season 2, forcing him to involve the Writers Guild of America to have it restored.
He said the experience felt dismissive and disrespectful.
According to Keyes, the credit dispute was tied directly to Tyler Perry Studios.
“My contract says I get credit — why are you trying to steal my credit?” he said. “You’ve got 16 or 17 shows. I’ve got one. Let me have credit.”
Keyes added that after Season 5, he’s content that the show will no longer be connected to him.
Says he was removed from writing as show changed direction
Keyes also claimed that when All the Queen’s Men first took shape, it was intended to be eight half-hour episodes. He says Perry later expanded the format to one-hour episodes and gradually removed him from the writing process altogether.
The actor argued the tone of Seasons 2 and 3 shifted dramatically, saying the storylines grew “weird” and strayed from his original vision.
He accused Perry of altering “the integrity of the show,” and criticized graphic plotlines he felt were added unnecessarily.
BET and Tyler Perry Studios have not commented
As of now, neither BET nor Tyler Perry Studios has publicly responded to the renewed claims.
Keyes emphasized that while the journey was disappointing, he remains proud of creating the original concept — and is ready to move forward.
