“D.L. Hughley Torches Nicki Minaj’s Political Pivot: ‘This Is Purely Transactional’”

D.L. Hughley calls out Nicki Minaj’s AmericaFest appearance, blasting her political alliance as hypocritical and “purely transactional

Nicki Minaj may be embracing a new political spotlight — but D.L. Hughley isn’t buying the transformation.

On Christmas Day, the veteran comedian posted a blistering video reacting to Nicki’s headline appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, where she praised the administration and expressed “utmost respect” for the president.

Hughley, however, came armed with receipts — and zero hesitation.

“Everything They Claimed To Oppose”

In the clip, Hughley revisited past comments made by Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk, who once said:

“I don’t think that’s a good role model for 18-year-old Black girls.”

Hughley highlighted the tension between those remarks and Nicki’s new political stage.

He also pointed to the movement’s long-standing anti-immigration rhetoric, contrasting it with Nicki Minaj’s own childhood story of immigrating from Trinidad.

“Nicki Minaj is virtually everything that the man who started that movement was against — yet now she’s the keynote speaker,” Hughley said.

A “Transactional” Alliance?

From Hughley’s perspective, the partnership isn’t ideological — it’s strategic.

He argued that the relationship between Nicki and her new political allies appears to be “purely transactional,” suggesting that star power may have replaced principle.

“I find it ironic that members of MAGA would turn their backs on their principles so swiftly for convenience sake,” he added.

Hughley went further, sharply criticizing the movement’s moral priorities, claiming they seem to “hate everything except racists, pedophiles, and sellouts.”

When Commentary Turns Personal

The tone shifted again when Hughley referenced the legal histories tied to people close to Minaj. He argued that her critics in this political arena appear surprisingly unbothered by it.

“It astounds me that transgender people draw their ire more than pedophiles,” he said, before adding that this reaction feels “par for the course.”

He concluded by arguing that serious personal histories don’t seem to disqualify figures in that space:

“Her brother is a convicted pedophile, her husband is a registered sex offender — and for them, that’s not a disqualifier.”

A Flashpoint Moment

Nicki Minaj’s political rebrand is clearly sparking heated debate — and Hughley’s commentary shows just how polarizing the shift has become.

Whether fans see this as evolution, strategy, or contradiction, one thing is certain:

The conversation isn’t cooling down anytime soon.
