DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Warns California Amid Expanding Fraud Probes

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has warned California Governor Gavin Newsom that federal investigators are preparing to expand nationwide fraud probes after uncovering “unprecedented abuses” in Minnesota public assistance programs.

Speaking on Jesse Watters Primetime, Noem said federal authorities would pursue anyone involved in misappropriating taxpayer dollars. “We’re going to come to you, Governor Newsom, and we’re going to arrest every single individual that has ties to this kind of stealing,” she said.

Noem said Minnesota operations exposed widespread fraud in Medicaid and developmental programs, including luxury spending and overseas schemes, and resulted in “hundreds and hundreds” of arrests. She described the findings as “just the tip of the iceberg,” citing networks across the U.S. and abroad.

Newsom welcomed federal cooperation, stating, “Can’t stand fraud, can’t stand waste and abuse.”

Investigations are led by the FBI, IRS, DHS Investigations, HHS OIG, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
