Jane Fonda Defends Don Lemon, Slams Trump Over Arrest

Hollywood icon and activist Jane Fonda spoke out after former CNN anchor Don Lemon’s arrest on January 29 in Los Angeles for covering an anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota church.

Don Lemon is a professional journalist. He and his producer were doing their job, nothing more, nothing less,” Fonda said outside the courthouse, adding, “They arrested the wrong Don,” taking a direct jab at President Donald Trump.

Lemon, 59, was released without bail on January 30 and told reporters, “I will not be silenced… there is no more important time than right now for a free and independent media that shines a light on the truth and holds those in power accountable.”

He faces charges under the FACE Act and for conspiracy to deprive rights, which could carry up to a decade in prison or fines for a misdemeanor.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass defended Lemon, saying, “I am very glad that our renowned, esteemed reporter Don Lemon will be released on his own recognizance because he should not have been in court anyway.”
