Nicki Minaj Pays $500K Judgment at Last Minute to Stop Forced Sale of $20M Mansion

Nicki Minaj has reportedly paid a $500,000 default judgment at the eleventh hour to avoid the forced sale of her $20 million Hidden Hills mansion, according to new court developments tied to an assault lawsuit involving her husband, Kenneth Petty.

The case stems from a lawsuit filed by former security guard Thomas Weidenmüller, who accused both Minaj (born Onika Maraj) and Petty of assault during a 2019 concert in Germany. Weidenmüller claimed the incident began when a fan jumped onstage, triggering an alleged outburst from Minaj toward a female security guard, whom she reportedly insulted.

When Weidenmüller confronted Minaj over her alleged treatment of his subordinate, he claimed she threw a shoe at him. He further alleged that Petty punched him in the face, breaking his jaw and leaving him in need of eight surgeries.

After Minaj and Petty failed to respond to the lawsuit, a judge issued a default judgment in March 2024 ordering them to pay $503,318.02. Minaj later claimed she was unaware of the lawsuit, blaming a breakdown in communication with her former business manager, but the ruling remained in place.

By October 2025, reports indicated that Minaj risked losing her Hidden Hills estate due to the unpaid judgment. Weidenmüller’s legal team asked the court to authorize a forced sale of the property, noting it had approximately $6 million in equity after accounting for mortgage liens and exemptions—more than enough to satisfy the debt.

However, on January 22, 2026, Rolling Stone reported that Minaj paid the judgment just in time to halt the property sale.

Outside a Los Angeles courthouse, Weidenmüller’s attorney, Paul Saso, confirmed the last-minute resolution. “Today, we informed the court that Nicki Minaj has satisfied the judgment and so therefore there is no need to proceed further with our motion for an order authorizing the sale of her house to satisfy that,” he said.

Saso told TMZ he learned about the settlement only moments before court proceedings began, calling it a dramatic final-hour decision. While it remains unclear whether Minaj paid the full amount or negotiated a partial settlement, Saso emphasized that the judgment was officially satisfied.

He described his client as relieved and vindicated after years of legal battles. “It’s been a long time coming to have justice finally done here,” Saso said, referencing both the alleged violence and the lengthy effort to enforce the judgment.

When asked about Minaj’s personal response, Saso said he has not spoken directly with her, only with her legal counsel. Still, he offered a pointed remark about accountability, expressing hope that the case marks a turning point in how she handles responsibility moving forward.

The legal saga underscores the high financial and reputational stakes for public figures when lawsuits escalate—and how close Minaj came to losing one of her most valuable properties before settling the debt at the last possible moment.
