A woman identified as Ama (not her real name) has shared a detailed account accusing the founder of Liberation City, Pastor Chris Okafor, of sexual misconduct, manipulation, and neglect spanning several years.
The claims remain allegations and have not been proven in court. Pastor Okafor and his legal representatives deny wrongdoing.
Claims of Abuse Beginning in Teenage Years
According to Ama, the alleged incidents began in 2004 when she was a 15-year-old choir member. She states that after visiting the pastor’s residence in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos, she was later asked to return.
She claims that inside the residence, the pastor locked the door and forced himself on her despite her objections.
Ama says she was frightened and confused and later realized she was bleeding.
She further alleges that the pastor attempted to present the situation as spiritual, telling her that she had been chosen and warning her not to speak about what happened.
Pregnancy and Family Intervention
Ama says she later discovered she was pregnant.
She claims that when family members confronted the pastor, he initially apologized and promised to take responsibility. She also alleges that she was encouraged at one point to terminate the pregnancy, but she refused.
Ama eventually gave birth to a daughter, Precious, and says she largely raised the child without consistent support.
Alleged Second Incident Years Later
Ama further claims that several years later, during a visit to request financial help for school fees, another sexual incident occurred.
She says she became disoriented and only realized afterward that her clothing had been disturbed.
According to her, the experience left her distressed, but she did not report it due to fear and pressure.
Claims Involving Her Daughter
Ama also alleges that her daughter later reported being sexually assaulted while staying temporarily with her father.
She says the child confided that she felt neglected and uncomfortable in the household and later described incidents of inappropriate contact allegedly occurring around 2019–2020 when she was about 14.
Ama states the family decided to quietly remove the child so she could continue her education without disruption.
These claims have not yet been adjudicated in court.
Pastor’s Position and Legal Response
Attempts to personally contact Pastor Chris Okafor for direct comment were unsuccessful.
However, his legal counsel, Ife Ajayi, Esq., said the allegations are false and constitute an attempt to damage his reputation.
Ajayi confirmed that the pastor had previously filed a formal complaint against Ama and that the matter is currently under police inquiry.
The legal team maintains that the allegations are malicious and insists that the pastor is prepared to defend himself through legal channels.
Police Investigation
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the pastor was invited for questioning regarding multiple allegations.
According to police authorities, the matter has been assigned to investigators who will review available information and statements. Police also stated that confidentiality will be maintained for anyone involved and encouraged credible witnesses to come forward.
No final legal determination has been made at this time.
Other Ongoing Disputes
The pastor has also faced unrelated personal and legal disputes in recent months, including disagreements involving relationships and family matters. In each case, he has issued denials and indicated willingness to challenge accusations through legal processes.
Breaking Years of Silence
Ama says that deciding to speak publicly was difficult, but she believes sharing her story is important.
She emphasizes that her intention is to seek accountability while allowing authorities to handle the investigation.
At this stage, investigations and legal proceedings remain ongoing, and no court ruling has concluded the allegations.
