Ray J claims doctors told him he may not have long to live, revealing serious heart issues and reflecting on his family, finances, and legacy in emotional videos
Singer and reality TV star Ray J alarmed fans this week after claiming he may not live beyond 2027, citing serious health problems in emotional videos shared on social media.
“2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” the 45-year-old said in a clip posted Tuesday night. “That’s what they say.” As a friend urged him not to speak that way, Ray J appeared distressed, placing his head in his hands and reflecting on the toll his lifestyle may have taken on his health.
“I shouldn’t have went this hard,” he said, adding that his children and their mother would be financially secure. He also expressed final wishes, asking to be cremated rather than buried.
Ray J thanked his parents and sister, singer Brandy, saying they have supported him by helping coordinate medical care and covering expenses “for the rest of the year.”
In another video posted Sunday, Ray J said he had “almost died” and revealed that his heart is functioning at approximately 25 percent capacity. He said he remains hopeful that staying focused on recovery could improve his condition.
A representative for Ray J did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Earlier this month, reports indicated that Ray J had been hospitalized with severe pneumonia after experiencing heart-related pain. He was previously hospitalized for pneumonia in 2021.
The health crisis comes during a turbulent period in Ray J’s personal and legal life. He has been involved in ongoing legal disputes with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, whom he accused of orchestrating the release of his 2007 sex tape with Kardashian. The two have denied the claims and called them false, while Ray J has continued to stand by his accusations.
In December, Ray J was arrested following an alleged domestic incident involving estranged wife Princess Love, with whom he shares two children. Love filed for divorce for the fourth time in early 2024.
Ray J’s recent statements have sparked concern among fans, many of whom are urging him to focus on his health and recovery as he navigates mounting personal and medical challenges.
