Rep. Thomas Massie Challenges DOJ Over Alleged Misrepresentation of Epstein File Requests

Rep. Thomas Massie disputes Deputy AG Todd Blanche’s claim that lawmakers hadn’t requested to review unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files, providing “receipts” to prove the request was sent.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) accused Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche of lying about a request by several lawmakers to review unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files. Massie later released “receipts” showing the request had been sent.

Blanche appeared on ABC News Friday, defending the Justice Department’s release of around 3.5 million Epstein files and responding to critics who alleged the DOJ was unlawfully withholding more. During the interview, Blanche said, “Apparently, Massie and others wrote a letter to come and review unredacted materials. I didn’t get that letter yet! They leaked it to the press before they actually sent it to me, but yea, that’s absolutely, totally fine.”

Massie responded on social media, insisting that he and co-sponsor Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) had indeed sent the request, adding that “receipts” would follow. He later posted a screenshot of an email sent to a DOJ government address on Friday at 5:13 p.m. with the subject: “Reps. Khanna and Massie Letter Request to Review the Epstein Files.”

It remains unclear whether Blanche had seen the emailed request at the time of his statement. Massie continues to push for full compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, citing ongoing issues with the DOJ releasing over-redacted materials.
