Stephen Miller Criticized by Family Amid Outrage Over Fatal ICE Shooting

Stephen Miller, former White House policy advisor and architect of aggressive immigration policies under Donald Trump, has faced sharp criticism from his own family following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother by ICE agents.

Alisa Kasmer, Miller’s cousin, took to social media to condemn him directly. “Renee Nicole Good’s death is blood on YOUR hands, Stephen,” she wrote on Threads. “I’m just glad our grandparents are no longer alive to witness the shame you have brought to our family.”

Kasmer, who grew up with Miller in Los Angeles, had previously described her cousin as “the face of evil” in a Facebook post last year. At the time, she recalled a softer side, describing Miller as a funny and caring middle child. She said she once believed he was “young, conservative, maybe misguided, but lovable and harmless.” But she says her perspective changed over time. “I grieve what you’ve become… I will never knowingly let evil into my life, no matter whose blood it carries—including my own,” Kasmer wrote.

Her criticisms extend beyond Renee Good’s death. Kasmer and other family members have condemned Miller for policies that undermined immigrant communities, pointing to the opportunities his own family once received when immigrating to the U.S. “We’re Jewish—we grew up knowing how hated we were just for existing. Now he’s trying to take away the exact thing that his own family benefited from,” Kasmer said.

Another relative, Miller’s uncle Dr. David Glosser, has also publicly criticized him, linking the former official’s work to broader injustices. Glosser has cited Miller’s role in implementing immigration policies informed by white nationalist ideology and has described hypocrisy in the Trump administration’s handling of vulnerable populations.

The fatal Minneapolis incident, which involved ICE agents shooting Renee Good, a mother of three, has sparked nationwide protests. Local authorities and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have rejected claims from Trump and his administration suggesting that Good was at fault, calling their narrative “garbage.”

The family’s statements underscore the personal and political fallout surrounding Miller, highlighting deep divisions over immigration policy and its human consequences.
