Sundance Film Festival Condemns Assault on Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost at Park City Party

The Sundance Film Festival has issued a strong statement condemning an assault against Florida Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost that occurred Friday night at a private CAA party in Park City, Utah.

In its statement, Sundance made clear that while the incident did not take place at an official festival event, the behavior was completely unacceptable. “We strongly condemn last night’s assault and abhor any form of violence, harassment, and hate speech,” the festival said, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for all attendees.

The festival added that the safety of guests remains its top priority and expressed concern for Frost’s well-being, encouraging anyone with additional information to contact the Park City Police Department.

Frost later confirmed on X that he was the victim of the attack. He said the assailant made racist remarks and told him that former President Donald Trump was going to deport him before punching him in the face. According to Frost, the suspect was arrested and he was not seriously injured.

“I am okay,” Frost wrote in a follow-up post. “We are in scary times. Please stay safe and do not let these people silence you.”

According to reports, the incident took place at High West Saloon during CAA’s Sundance party. Security detained the suspect, who was later arrested by police. The individual was reportedly not on the guest list and had entered the event without authorization.

The incident has sparked renewed concern about rising political and racially motivated violence, even in spaces meant to celebrate art, culture, and free expression.
