Target has issued an internal memo to staff in response to ongoing immigration enforcement activity in Minneapolis, where some operations and parking lots have become flash points for federal action. Human Resources Chief Melissa Kremer acknowledged the stress employees may be carrying and outlined safety measures for handling disruptions near stores.
“We’re listening and working to de-escalate where possible,” Kremer wrote, emphasizing that Target has no cooperative agreements with immigration enforcement agencies. The memo also introduced new FAQs and guidance from security teams to help employees navigate local disruptions.
The Minneapolis area houses roughly 20 Target stores, making the retailer one of the city’s largest employers. The company has historically engaged in public stances on local issues, such as after George Floyd’s murder, but has recently maintained a cautious approach to politically sensitive topics, including diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Meta Description: Target addresses employee stress amid Minneapolis ICE raids, emphasizing safety protocols and clarifying it has no cooperative agreements with immigration enforcement.
