Texas County Judge, Son Accused of Confronting Amazon Workers During Road Rage Incident

A Texas county judge and his son are at the center of controversy after a roadside confrontation with two Amazon delivery workers. Video evidence and witness accounts suggest tensions escalated into threats, spitting, and alleged racial slurs — raising questions about the conduct of public officials and accountability in heated incidents.

The incident occurred in November in Hudson Oaks, Texas, near Fort Worth, when Parker County Judge Pat Deen (R) was backing out of his driveway and nearly collided with an Amazon delivery van driven by JNae King and LaTierca Thrower, who was working her first shift.

According to the workers and video obtained by CBS Texas, Deen allegedly got out of his truck and confronted the women, shouting:

“You stopped right when I was backing out. Are you an idiot?”

The confrontation escalated as Deen allegedly threatened to have the Amazon employees fired. Thrower recalled:

“He was just screaming, ‘I’m gonna get you all fired, I’m gonna get you all fired. Y’all need to pay attention.’”

The workers disputed that they caused any near-collision and attempted to de-escalate the situation.

The Role of Deen’s Son

The situation intensified when Gary Patrick Deen Jr., the judge’s son, allegedly became combative. The women claimed he used racial slurs and spat at them during the argument.

Hudson Oaks Police confirmed video evidence showing the younger Deen spitting at the delivery drivers, though investigators could not verify the use of racial slurs.

King said:

“Most of the confrontation was coming from his son and not [the judge]. From my perspective, I don’t believe [the judge] spit intentionally; he was just irate.”

Judge Deen denied ever spitting at the workers but acknowledged his own aggressive behavior.

Judge Deen’s Statement

Deen defended his reaction, claiming the drivers had parked behind his vehicle and caused damage, prompting his frustration.

“At the time, whether a public official or not, I think that when there’s a possibility of personal property damage, anybody’s gonna be frustrated with the attitude that was there,” he said.

He admitted partial responsibility for the heated exchange:

“I should’ve just walked away.”

Legal and Political Implications

The Amazon workers filed assault charges against Deen’s son, while Deen faces mounting public scrutiny. The incident comes as the judge seeks a third four-year term in 2026. He will compete in the Republican primary on March 3 against Tim Galbreaith, a former police officer and retired municipal judge.

The primary winner will face Democrat Richard Simms, who is running unopposed, in the November general election.

This case highlights questions about public official conduct, accountability, and voter perception, particularly for candidates seeking reelection.

Conclusion

The Hudson Oaks road rage incident involving Judge Pat Deen and his son underscores how personal confrontations can have political and legal ramifications. With assault charges pending and an upcoming election, the episode is likely to attract continued attention from constituents and the media alike.
