Former President Trump told a podcast audience Republicans should seize control of elections in Democratic-run areas, continuing false claims about his 2020 and 2016 election losses.
Former President Donald Trump told right-wing podcaster Dan Bongino on Monday that Republicans should seize control of elections in at least 15 Democratic-run jurisdictions, repeating false claims about his electoral history in Minnesota and Georgia.
Trump claimed the Biden administration’s border policy reversals were designed to boost the Democratic Party and accused Republicans of failing to respond aggressively. He suggested the GOP “take over the voting” in these areas and “nationalize” elections, despite the U.S. Constitution giving election administration to state and local authorities.
During the interview, Trump also made false claims about winning Minnesota and Georgia, insisting he had actually won those states in previous elections. In reality, he lost Minnesota in all three of his campaigns and Georgia in 2020 by 11,779 votes, confirmed after multiple recounts.
Trump’s remarks echo his long-standing pattern of questioning election outcomes in states that lean Democratic. His repeated false claims contributed to the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack and have led to ongoing criminal investigations in Georgia and Washington, D.C.
The interview also referenced recent federal ICE operations in Minnesota targeting alleged public benefit fraud, which Trump linked to supposed election interference by Somali-American communities, even though these claims have no factual basis.
Trump concluded by suggesting that upcoming developments in Georgia would further prove his assertions, continuing his narrative of widespread election fraud.
