Trump Sparks Outrage with Controversial Obama Meme Video

President Donald Trump is back in the spotlight after sharing a controversial video on his Truth Social account. The 62-second clip, which focuses on 2020 election conspiracy theories, has sparked a heated debate across the country due to a brief scene featuring former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.

What Was in the Video?

The video largely repeats claims about voting machine tampering in battleground states—claims that have been repeatedly dismissed by courts and election officials. However, the part causing the most “noise” online happens right at the end. For a few seconds, the faces of the former First Couple are superimposed onto primates in a jungle setting.

The footage appears to be taken from a longer internet meme where:

  • Donald Trump is depicted as the “King of the Jungle” (a lion).
  • Prominent Democrats are shown as various animals.
  • Joe Biden is also shown as a primate in the original longer version of the meme.

The White House Responds

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt quickly dismissed the criticism. She described the post as a simple “internet meme” inspired by The Lion King. Leavitt urged the media to focus on “something that actually matters to the American public” rather than what she called “fake outrage.”

Why It’s Creating a Stir

Critics, including the group Republicans Against Trump, have called the imagery “racist” and “disgusting.” They argue that using such depictions for the nation’s first Black president crosses a line. On the other hand, the President’s team often frames these types of AI-generated videos and memes as harmless satire or humor.

This incident adds to a long history of personal tension between Trump and Obama, dating back to the “birtherism” claims years ago.
