Donald Trump threatens to sue Trevor Noah after a Grammys joke referencing Epstein sparks backlash and online debate.
Donald Trump is lashing out over a Grammys moment involving host Trevor Noah, threatening to sue the comedian after a joke referencing the former president’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein drew laughs — and controversy.
During the show, Noah riffed after Billie Eilish won Song of the Year, joking that Trump “wants Greenland” because “Epstein’s island is gone.” The crowd reacted with mixed laughter and gasps, prompting Noah to quip that it didn’t matter — it was his “last year” hosting anyway.
Trump fired back on Truth Social, calling the joke “INCORRECT” and “defamatory,” insisting he has “never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close.” He then claimed he would be “sending [his] lawyer” after Noah and labeled the host a “loser” and “talentless.”
The former president referenced past defamation settlements involving ABC and CBS, though legal experts widely viewed those earlier cases as flimsy. Industry observers noted that those networks settled during periods when they needed government approval for major business moves — leverage Noah does not share.
For now, Noah has not publicly responded. But many are already speculating that a lawsuit could open the door to a discovery process that might reveal far more than Trump intends, especially regarding his long-scrutinized ties to Epstein.
