Young Republicans Skeptical of JD Vance as 2028 Nominee

A new Politico report shows that younger Republicans are hesitant about Vice President JD Vance as a potential 2028 presidential nominee, raising questions about the GOP’s path forward without Donald Trump.

The focus group, consisting of nine Gen Z voters who supported Trump in 2024, cited Vance’s ties to the Washington establishment and the second Trump administration as major concerns. “I feel like it’s just time for someone new, especially for the Republican Party,” said one participant, citing issues such as the Epstein files and perceived flip-flopping on policy.

Participants suggested alternative candidates, including Marco Rubio, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tom Cotton, and James Fishback. Only one participant tentatively supported Vance, acknowledging his experience as Vice President but remaining unsure about his electability.
