Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemns Iran’s IRGC as a terrorist group, supports Iranian protesters, and highlights its role in attacks on Ukraine and civilians.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed strong support for the Iranian people, highlighting their struggle for freedom and condemning the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
“The whole world sees what is happening in Iran, the number of killings, and how the Iranian regime has invested in spreading war and violence in the region and around the world,” Zelenskyy said. He emphasized that Ukraine has already designated the IRGC as a terrorist group, aligning with European Union procedures underway to formalize the classification.
Zelenskyy criticized the IRGC for multiple crimes, including its role in supplying Russia with Shahed drones, training Russian forces in occupied Ukrainian territories, and conducting bloody crackdowns on Iranian protesters. Human rights organizations report over 6,000 victims of repression during the 2025–2026 protests.
He also recalled the IRGC’s responsibility in shooting down Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 in 2020, which killed 176 people, including 11 Ukrainians.
“All terrorists worldwide deserve equal condemnation, and none should be allowed to win,” Zelenskyy concluded.
